About the Competition
National and international scientific essay competition for university students.
The UNLIMITED 2026 Scientific Essay Competition for the University Student Category is a national-level scientific research competition specifically designed for undergraduate and diploma students from across Indonesia and around the world. This competition is separated from the high school student category to ensure fair evaluation that is appropriate to the participants' academic level.
Participants may choose from the following subthemes: Smart Energy Transition, Digital Health and Human Resilience, Sustainable AgriTech, and Eco-Digital Convergence, before advancing to the presentation stage before the panel of judges on September 26, 2026, in Semarang.
Eligibility
Who can participate in the University category.
- Participants must be active university students enrolled at a university in Indonesia or abroad, as proven by a valid Student ID card
- Participants may register individually or form a team consisting of 2–3 members, with one person designated as the team leader and the others as members
- Each participant is only allowed to register in one team
- Each team or individual participant may submit only one paper title
- All members of a team must come from the same institution
- Participants are required to comply with all regulations established by the organizing committee throughout the competition

Smart Energy Transition
Renewable energy (solar, wind), smart grid systems, real-time energy management, efficiency & stability, digital optimization (AI, IoT).
Digital Health and Human Resilience
AI-driven healthcare, early diagnosis & prediction, telemedicine, climate-related health risks, human resilience.
Sustainable AgriTech
Precision farming, data-driven agriculture, sensors & drones, resource efficiency, sustainable production.
Eco-Digital Convergence
Digital environmental monitoring, big data & sustainability, policy transparency, smart governance, climate action.

General Rules
- The paper must be written in English (for the national and international university student category)
- The essay must be scientific, original, and must not have been previously published or submitted to any other competition
- Each team is only allowed to submit one paper, and can only choose one subtheme from the given subthemes
- Registered participants are not permitted to join more than one team
- The paper must be free from plagiarism and must include clearly cited references
- The content of the essay must be relevant to the selected theme and subtheme
- Participants are required to take part in the entire competition process until the final stage
- The decision of the panel of judges is final and cannot be contested
Writing Format
- File format: PDF, maximum size 10 MB
- Essay length: 10–15 pages (excluding bibliography and appendices)
- Font: Times New Roman 12pt, 1.5 line spacing, 2.5 cm margins
- Bibliography using APA 7th Edition style
Team Size
Participants may register individually or form a team consisting of 2–3 active members from the same institution.

Siapa saja yang bisa mendaftar?
Lomba Esai dibuka untuk dua kategori: (1) Mahasiswa aktif dari perguruan tinggi nasional dan internasional, dan (2) Pelajar SMA/SMK sederajat dari seluruh Indonesia.
Apakah saya harus mendaftar sebagai tim?
Peserta dapat mendaftar individu atau membentuk tim yang terdiri dari 2–3 orang anggota dari institusi yang sama. Detail lengkap akan dijelaskan di guidebook resmi.
Apakah boleh memilih sub-tema sendiri?
Ya. Peserta bebas memilih satu dari subtema yang tersedia sesuai minat dan keahlian tim. Setiap tim hanya bisa submit satu esai untuk satu sub-tema.
Berapa jadwal pendaftaran dan presentasi?
Pendaftaran dibuka dalam 3 gelombang (12 Mei - 20 Juli 2026). Presentasi finalis dijadwalkan 25 September 2026 (Pelajar) dan 26 September 2026 (Mahasiswa) di Semarang.
Apakah karya harus dalam Bahasa Indonesia?
Peserta kategori Pelajar menulis dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Peserta kategori Mahasiswa (nasional dan internasional) menulis dalam Bahasa Inggris.
Berapa panjang esai yang diwajibkan?
Panjang esai 10–15 halaman tidak termasuk daftar pustaka dan lampiran. Format lengkap (font, margin, spasi) tersedia di guidebook resmi.
Apakah karya yang pernah dipresentasikan di tempat lain boleh didaftarkan?
Tidak. Karya yang didaftarkan harus orisinal dan belum pernah dipublikasikan atau dilombakan di kompetisi mana pun sebelumnya.
